Out of the Mouths of Babes

My grandson had a way with words when he was a pre-schooler. On an outing when he was five years of age we were getting out of the car in search of some boots for his birthday. A huge rainstorm blew up all of a sudden, my umbrella turned inside out and we both fell back into the car laughing. Hayden exclaimed, “holy, holy holy!” I looked at him as if to say, where did that come from? He quickly changed his intonation and seriously informed me, “that’s what you say when you don’t know what to say!” I’ve given that particular thought lately.

Recently, an unfortunate incident occurred in my life. It wasn’t meant to hurt me, but it wounded my pride. I couldn’t shake it. My mind was a mess over it all. So, finally I stopped and claimed these verses in Romans 8:26-27. ” For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groaning too deep for words. And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” I was at a standstill until God in His mercy answered my prayer. The next day I awoke with a new improved attitude. I wasn’t held captive by my racing thoughts. I was at peace.

Holy, Holy, Holy. God is set apart. He is perfect. He is unstained. So, if you don’t know what to say….start praising God. A simple “Holy, Holy, Holy” is a good start. Then everything else will fall into a perfect place in your life.
